A Donkey to Market

On Wednesday, the 27th of March 2013, Years 4 and 5 presented their version of “A Donkey to Market”. The play started just after 6:00 p.m. on a lovely, cool evening.

It was a delightful medley of African rhythm, song, music, costume and props. All the children participated in making the props for the play: the donkey, the well and the hut. They also played traditional African instruments, as they sang with, of course, the participation of Mr. Dag Jack.

Though the play was brief and sweet, the lesson it taught was rich and deep in meaning: ‘No matter what you do, people will talk. So, you might as well follow your heart and do what you think is right.’

I pay humble tribute to our young budding talents who were able to give life to this popular folktale. They are to be commended on the wonderful performance they gave before family, friends and teachers.
