Insects: Dr. Georg, a scientist, introduced us to the wonderful world of insects. In the laboratory, we saw over 200 specimens, including different species of butterflies, moths, cockroaches, stick insects, bees, and ants. Each specimen's unique features were captivating, but the metallic cockroach stunned me the most. We also observed spiders, though Dr. Georg clarified they are not insects. One of the primary reasons for studying insects is to understand how to control or eliminate harmful ones. Did you know that a fruit fly possesses over 100 eye pixels? To learn more, visit I.I.T.A!

Vegetable Fields: Afterward, our guide, Mr. Karim, led us to the enormous vegetable fields. These fields were impressive and enormous. Mr. Karim first took us to the greenhouse, where the warm environment helped the growth of tomatoes, okra, and peppers. We then moved to the open fields, which were huge and cultivated with various vegetables like corn, pepper, beans, and AFRICAN LETTUCE! Do you know this plant? Again go to IITA and see! Mr. Karim explained that these crops were not intended for sale but for demonstrating plant growth.

Mini Farm: Our final stop was the mini farm, home to adorable bunnies and guinea fowls, alongside beautiful chickens, catfishes.

E.I.S. celebrated its array of cultures as students expressed joy in being part of a global community.

Through Origami, Years 6, 7 and 8 students have been developing the following skills and more.

Inspired by their Global Perspectives topic on the importance of Community Service, Year 6 decided to focus on serving their own school community through a cleaning project.

On Saturday, 21st November, several children represented E.I.S. splendidly at the Batizado held at the Capoeira Centre in Haie Vive. Certain children were inspired to write about their experience in the practice of this Afro-Brazilian martial art/dance.

World Food Day was marked in school with good thought, reflection and plans for action.
