Local Consumption Month

As October is celebrated as “Le Mois du Consommons Local” (Local Consumption Month), on Tuesday, 13th October 2026, year 3 children went on a field trip to Omani’s Bakery to discover and promote locally made snacks and sweets.

During the visit, the children had the opportunity to taste a variety of delicious snacks made from locally sourced ingredients, including cassava flour, rice flour, fonio seeds and other local products. They also sampled gluten-free and sugar-free treats, as well as ice cream made with rice milk, without dairy or eggs.
They also learned that some of these alternatives can be suitable for people with certain dietary needs, including those with gluten or dairy allergies.

It was an enjoyable and educational experience that encouraged our young learners to appreciate local products and support local businesses.

We also ate ice cream made with rice milk, without sugar, eggs or milk. We enjoyed the visit and we wish to go there again for longer time.
