Year 11 students represented E.I.S. in the Foulées de la Francophonie
On Sunday, 26th March, three Year 11 students represented E.I.S. in the Foulées de la Francophonie, an event organized by the French Embassy and the Institut Français to support the National Paralympic Committee of Benin.
The students reported the following:
Abissalao Almeida - "We consider ourselves a little 'jogging group' and meet three times per week to jog around our area of Cotonou. This 4 kilometre run alongside people of different ages and different abilities was such a good experience for us. We should all be more physically active."
Adam Assou - "There were adults, teenagers and children. There was even someone running with a baby stroller with two babies inside. It was a unifying event; a great way to bring people together. It felt good to do something like this, and for an important cause."
Carlos Toe - "I would like to encourage more of our school mates to get involved next time. Yes, we were hot and tired at the end, but the organizers had oranges and drinks waiting for us so that we could replenish what we had lost in running. I actually felt energized after it all."
In the words of Pernilla Wiberg (Swedish Olympic and World Cup alpine ski racer):
Much more than just performance, sport is synonymous with education and responsibility. It teaches young people strong values that help them grow.
