Dear Parents,

We have entered the month of March and there are several special days to acknowledge and celebrate. Teachers will promote awareness of global issues in classes and talk about cultural festivals of the month.

Please note the following information and dates for your agendas:

International Women’s Day – 8th March
We honour this day in school and promote awareness of its importance, celebrating women’s achievements and embracing equity.

Holi Festival - 7th and 8th March
This popular Hindu festival is known as the “festival of colours” and the “festival of love,” as the spring harvest season comes up. Activities are planned for certain classes.

Model United Nations – 10th March
Years 10-13 students have been sharpening their skills in diplomacy, critical thinking, public speaking and more as they prepare for the third edition of the E.I.S. Model United Nations (MUN).

World Water Day – 22nd March
The international observance of World Water Day is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The focus for this year will be on accelerating change to solve the water and sanitation crisis. We shall acknowledge this day in our classes at school. We encourage parents to explore and discuss the day’s importance at home to reinforce the focus placed on it in school.

E.I.S. Swimming Gala - 24th March
Children in Years 1 through 9 will have the chance to exhibit their progress, skills and sportsmanship within their groups at this internal event.

DELF (Département de Langue Française) Exams – Institut Français
DELF exams begin this month, with different dates scheduled depending on your registration. The information regarding these exams remains posted on the bulletin boards at school and at the Institut Français. E.I.S. French teachers may also be consulted for further information.

Cambridge Checkpoint Examinations (Year 6 and Year 9): 17th - 20th April
Preparation for these external exams, in the form of mock papers, will be held from 15th - 17th March.
