International Education for ages from two to eighteen

Home

The English International School is a co-educational day school providing an international education for children from the age of two until university admission age.

The school environment is a very pleasant leafy residential area of Cotonou, which is the commercial and administrative capital of The Republic of Benin. The school itself is comprised of five separate buildings which are in close proximity to each other.

These buildings house:

Nursery & Infants for ages two and five

Primary School for age six to ten

Secondary School for age eleven to eighteen

Boarders for age seven to eighteen

Good behaviour and responsible citizenship are central to the operation of the school which was established on the principle of reciprocity. The mission statement further outlines the aims of the school.

Educational achievement is of great importance to the school. We follow the British National Curriculum with an international flavour. The schemes of work are outlined by Cambridge University and we are members of their primary programme and checkpoint which then progress naturally to University of Cambridge IGCSE examinations and “A” levels.

The children’s progress is monitored internally by the teachers and externally through public examinations supplied by Cambridge University. It is our aim to provide a seamless education for children from the age of two until they enter university at the age of eighteen.

The school provide several social events in the calendar for parents and the student’s timetables include: art, music, dance, drama, sports and extra curricular activities.

Admission to the school can occur at any time during the school year which lasts from early September through to late June. Fees for part years are calculated pro rata on the annual rate.
