English International School Newsletter of the 30th May 2023

Dear Parents,

Congratulations are in order for the 23 E.I.S. children of all ages who took the DELF Prim and Junior Examinations (April Session) at the Institut Français. All had success at their respective levels of A1 through B2. Another E.I.S. group will be testing in July. We encourage our students to take advantage of this opportunity to earn an official qualification awarded by the French Ministry of Education, which certifies their competency (as candidates from outside France) in the French language.

As we come to the end of the month of May, please make note of the following:

Cambridge International Progression Tests: 30th May - 2nd June

Children in Years 3 – 5 and 7 – 8 will be tested in English, Mathematics and Science. Teachers have informed the children of this. These tests, which assess the learning objectives from the relevant stage of the Curriculum Framework, allow teachers to follow the progress of their students over time and analyse performance within their classes and against a standardised international cohort. They are marked internally and can be used to provide diagnostic feedback for each class and each child.

It is important to note that the end of examinations does not mean the end of school and studies. The academic year will end on the half-day of 30th June.

Update of Parents’ Phone Numbers and Email Addresses

It is essential that the school have a phone number on which you can be reached in the event of an emergency. Please inform the secretary of any phone number and email address updates.

The school calendar for Academic Year 2023 – 2024 is out. You may consult the school website for next year’s information and events. When making travel plans, please note that the next academic year will begin on Thursday, 14^th September 2023.
