We are pleased to announce that our school website has been updated and is now ‘live’ – www.eis-benin.org. You will be able to subscribe to the biweekly e-mail newsletter on the website. The website, being hosted in the U.K., is subject to the Data Protection Act 1998, which defines how personal information may be used. This means E.I.S. will not pass your e-mail address to any third party. Copies of the most recent newsletter will still be posted at each building, as well as available in the secretary’s office, but we hope, through our subscription service, to eliminate the problem of letters forgotten in children’s bags or not reaching home.
Please note the following reminders and information:
Collection basket for the needy As we think of those who are not as fortunate as we are, we prepare items to donate to a local orphanage / alternative school. If you have good quality used clothes or toys, please gather them together to bring to school. A basket has been placed in front of the administrative building for collection.
School Fair and Yearbook An organizational meeting is planned for both after the Christmas holiday, on Wednesday, 9th January 2013 at 15:00. We look forward to the creative ideas which you will have accumulated over the holiday to set the planning in motion.
Friday, 30th November – Work / School Day We regret the error made on the school calendar. This day, originally listed under Official Benin Holidays (Wikipedia), and thus included on our school calendar as a public holiday, turns out not to be declared as such, according to the Ministry of Labour. The ceremony will involve demonstrations of this Brazilian martial art / dance by our children and those from other schools who practice capoeira. You are welcome to come out to support our children and be entertained.
Performance – Thursday, 6th December, 18:00. in the Lower School Garden – (Please note the new time.) Children in Reception – Year 3 plan to put all in the holiday spirit with their West African version of The Elves and the Shoemaker. We look forward to your presence at this performance.
