As we move along in our new academic year, I would like to once again extend a warm welcome to our new school families and welcome back those who have been with us. We look forward to an exciting and productive academic year, and count on your support and cooperation.
As most of you already know, our school newsletter is an important vehicle of communication, informing all of what is going on in our school community and sometimes in the community at large. Please make it a priority to keep up with the latest information. In maintaining our commitment to the environment and our determination to reduce paper waste at school, we continue to post our newsletter on the school website and on each of our building boards. You may also call into the secretary’s office if you need a hard copy in hand. By subscribing through the website, the newsletter will go directly to your email address. If you have difficulty with your subscription, please see Mr. Khaled Soumanou, Administrative Secretary.
Please review the calendar for this school year, and note the following upcoming school event:
Information and Social Evening for Parents and Staff – Friday, 3rd October, 18:00 – 21:00
We will begin the evening with general information about school and class organisation, daily routines and curriculum in the Middle School classrooms from 18:00 – 19:00. An informal barbecue will follow on the field. We look forward to seeing you at this event, which provides an opportunity for parents and teachers to meet and mingle. We welcome your contributions of desserts and savoury side-dishes to complement the barbecue.
After-School Activities will begin next week. A variety of physical, arts and enrichment activities are on offer this term. For further details, visit our school website.
Swimming classes will begin next week, according the classes’ timetables. If your child is to be exempt from swimming due to illness or other reasons, kindly put this intention in writing, addressed to the class teacher.
Orders are still being taken for school uniforms and will continue to be delivered to children. If any adjustments are necessary, the Secretary will be able to contact the tailor. We ask that parents make sure that their children are dressed properly and neatly before leaving for school.
Ebola Information Hand-outs
At the start of school, information sheets were given out regarding Ebola and our school’s decision protocol for infectious disease prevention / management. If, for some reason, you have not received the information or if you have questions regarding such, kindly call into the school office.
Last year’s advanced level EIS students have now joined the ranks of EIS alumni. The teachers and I were pleased to hear from them since their start in university and heartily wish them well. We’ll look forward to hearing more about their success and that of those who preceded them.
