As we are in our last month of the school year, I would like to call your attention to the following events and information:
Public Holiday – Monday, 9th June, Pentacost / Whit Monday
Cambridge AS-level examinations for will end on 11th June. Results for IGCSE and AS-level examinations will be out in August. Year 6 and Year 9 students will be given their Statements of Achievement for Cambridge Checkpoint Tests in English, Mathematics and Science once the school receives them directly from Cambridge. The internally monitored Cambridge Progression Tests for years 3 to 5 and 7 & 8 in English, Mathematics and Science will be administered on 10th, 11th and 12th June. Teachers have informed the children of this. These tests assess the learning objectives from the relevant stage of the curriculum framework and are diagnostic tools, allowing teachers to analyse performance within their classes and against a standardised international cohort.
International Day – Friday, 13th June (School will be held from 8:00 – 12:00)
We will celebrate our school’s cultures and traditions on this day by presenting singing, dancing and traditional dress on the school field, beginning at 10:15. Following the performance, we will share food from around the world. Contributions of your country’s savoury or sweet dishes are greatly appreciated.
Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest – Friday, 13th June in the Lower School Garden at 18:00
Upper School students look forward to entertaining you with their performance on this evening. (Rain date will be Saturday, 14th June.)
Sports Day – Friday, 20th June, on the school field, starting at 8:15
Children in their houses of Einstein, Newton and Mandela, will compete in fun races and games. More information will be forthcoming from class teachers. A ‘summer’ party / picnic is planned to celebrate the ending of the school year after the event.
Reports Out and Child Progress Conferences – 25th and 26th June
Reports will be sent home with children on Wednesday, 25th June and parents will meet with teachers on Thursday, 26th June. Teachers will arrange appointment times during the week prior to the conferences.
Last Day of Term / Prize Giving – Friday, 27th June, Institut Français Paillote
The 27th of June is the official last day of school. We end on this day with a farewell ceremony (from 9:00 – 10:30), during which we reflect on the academic year and award prizes. I would like to ask parents to kindly inform teachers if, for certain reasons, they will need to travel before the final day.
The school calendar for Academic Year 2014 – 2015 is out and should be consulted when making travel plans. Please note that the next academic year will begin on Wednesday, 17th September 2014.
