English International School Newsletter of the 28th April 2023

Dear Parents,

Although we were not in school on Earth Day (22nd April) this year, we continue in the spirit of the 2023 theme: Invest In Our Planet. We are reinforcing in school the importance of the “3Rs” – Reduce, Re-use and Recycle.

Please note the following information and upcoming events for your diaries:

Cambridge International Examinations

Externally moderated Checkpoint Examinations for Years 6 and 9 were completed last week. We congratulate students on reaching a milestone. The papers have been dispatched to Cambridge, United Kingdom for correction. Parents will be contacted to retrieve certificates and discuss their child’s results once they have arrived in school from Cambridge. Important work continues in these classes until the end of the academic year, including introduction to and preparation for the next levels: Lower Secondary for Year 6 and IGCSE for Year 9.

The IGCSE and AS/A-Level Examination period began on 26th April and will end on 9th June.

We wish our older students the best of luck during their exam period.

The internally moderated Cambridge Progression Tests in English, Maths and Science for Years 3 – 5 and 7 and 8 will be held from 30th May—2nd June.

Public Holiday: Monday, 1st May

Institut Français

Several E.I.S, students will be sitting the DELF examinations during the upcoming weeks. We wish them good luck.

There is also an interesting programme of concerts, films, exhibitions, performances, etc. during the months of May and June. You may request to see the programme at the Institut Français.

Weather

Rainy season is soon to set in. Please ensure that your child comes prepared with rain gear for a short walk to and from the classroom, as traffic instructions for school drop-off and pick-up must still be followed.
