Teachers and students have been working hard to get the 2016- 2017 Academic Year off to a productive start. We once again welcome new families who have joined us. Teachers look forward to meeting you at the following upcoming event:
New Parents’ Information Evening – Friday, 7th October, 17:00 – 19:00 in the Middle School building and garden
The evening is scheduled for discussion of your child’s early progress with teachers. Teachers will display curriculum materials and answer questions about classroom routines, expectations and goals. Light refreshments will be available.
We appreciate your consideration of teachers’ busy work schedules and the necessity for them to remain attentive to pupils’ needs during school hours. You may seek assistance from the school secretary to make appointments with them if queries should arise outside of scheduled conference times. We thank you for your cooperation in making sure that the telephone numbers which you have given to school are working numbers, should we need to contact you in the event of an emergency.
International Peace Day (21st September)
As many of you know, we celebrated International Peace Day at school on Wednesday, 21st September. Under beautiful skies, our march over to the school field was symbolic. Sitting down on the grass, we observed a minute of silence and then read poems and sang songs about peace .Some of the poems that the children wrote on that day are now up on display boards. Our reflections and prayers go out to those who are suffering because of lack of peace for various reasons.
English Football / Soccer for EIS Teenagers
EIS Upper and Middle School students, who are 13 years old and above, are welcome to participate in the SundaySoccer Activity, held on the school field from 17:00 – 19:00. The supervision of this popular activity will be shared amongst the parents. Thanks go to Ebrima Baba Jarjusey (Year 12) for organising the activity this term.
Institut Français Programme
Please note that the October / November / December programme of the Institut Français is now out and available for viewing on our Cotonou Culture Board (behind the secretary’s office). The programme may also be picked up at the reception area of the Institut Français. There are a variety of cultural offerings for children and adults.
