Congratulations are in order for the following Years 10 and 11 students: Lorisse Gbedey, Safia Grimaud, Floriale Meto,Prudencia Tchoukpa, Patrick Udosen and Roxane Zounmenou. All achieved excellent results on the DELF Junior(Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) examination and will be awarded diplomas from the French Ministry of Education. We are proud of their achievements.
As we are in our last month of the school year, I would like to call your attention to the following events and information:
Performance – Moliere’s Tartuffe: (Today) Friday, 5th June, 17:00 in the Lower School Garden
Middle School students plan to entertain you on this evening in their performance of this classic.
(In the event of rain, the performance will be held in the school hall, with limited seating available for Middle School parents only.)
Cambridge International Progression Tests – 8th, 9th , 10th June
These tests in Mathematics, English and Science will be administered to children in Years 3,4,5,7 and 8. Teachers have informed the children of this. The tests assess the learning objectives from the relevant stage of the curriculum framework and allow teachers to follow the progress of their students over time. Teachers are thus able to analyse performance within their classes and against a standardised international cohort. The tests are marked internally and can be used to provide diagnostic feedback for each class and each student.
International Day – Friday, 12th June (School finishes at 12:00 on this day)
We will celebrate our school’s cultures and traditions on this day by presenting singing, dancing, poetry and traditional dress, beginning at 10:00 on the school field. Contributions of your country’s savoury or sweet dishes, as well as ornaments, cloth, etc. to decorate the booths, are greatly appreciated.
Summer Parties – Friday, 19th June
Children will mark the end of the school year with celebrations at given times and venues on this day. More detailed information will be forthcoming from teachers.
Reports and Parents’ Evening (Parent-Teacher Conferences) – 24th and 25th June
Reports will be sent home with children on Wednesday, 24th June. Appointment times will be given, as usual, for pre-school and lower and middle school meetings. Upper school teachers will meet with parents in turn from 17:30 – 19:30.
Last Day of Term / Prize Giving – Friday, 26th June, 10:00 at the Institut Français
The 26th of June is the official last day of school. We end on this day with a farewell ceremony, during which we reflect on the academic year and award prizes. I would like to ask parents to kindly inform teachers if, for certain reasons, they will need to travel before the final day.
