After an eventful week with demonstrations taking place in Cotonou, we hope for calmer days ahead. In the event of a re-occurrence of such, as the country prepares for next year’s election, please note that school will remain open unless you hear otherwise. We ask that you please make sure that your contact information is kept up-to-date, and that you are able to receive our emails through your completed subscription to our website. We know that many school families are connected to sources which may dispatch information more quickly, and we always appreciate your sharing that with us.
We look forward to making deliveries to the charities for which funds were raised at the School Fair. The visit of Years 4 and 5 to La Maison de l’Espérance, which had been scheduled for Wednesday, 6th May, has been postponed to Wednesday, 13th May. The visits to Sainte Rita Orphanage and Segbeya School for the Blind are planned for later this month.
Years 6 and 9 have completed their externally moderated Checkpoint examinations and the IGCSE and AS/A-level exams, which began on Tuesday, 5th May, will continue until 10th June. We wish our students a successful examination period.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday, 5th May, Mrs Ferdjani decided to leave her job due to personal circumstances. We miss her presence in school.
Mr Armand Sossouhounto has taken over as CIE coordinator for external examinations: Checkpoints, IGCSE and AS/A levels.
To ensure that there is no disruption in the Middle School some changes have had to be made:
English – Mr. P Collins - Years 6/7, Mrs Carsky - Years 8/9
History and Geography - Mr Adewale - Years 6/7, 8/9
Maths and Science - Ms Tobi - Years 6/7, 8/9
Mr P Collins will be form teacher for Years 8/9
Ms Toby remains form teacher for Years 6/7
These changes will commence fully on Monday, 11th May.
We thank all the teachers for their support this week.
Please note the following for your agendas:
Public Holiday (Ascension) – Thursday, 14th May
MulticorpsDance Performance – Saturday, 23rd May, Palais des Congrès
This grand dance performance will feature several of our children, under the direction of teachers, Valérie d’Almeida and Marcel Gbeffa. More information will be forthcoming.
