English International School Newsletter of the 8th March 2024

Dear Parents,

Today is International Women’s Day (8th March), and the United Nations has designated the 2024 theme as Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress. Teachers will highlight women’s achievements and gender equality issues in classes during the month (as we should do throughout the year). E.I.S. takes the opportunity to celebrate all women in our community.

We thank teachers for their diligence and hard work, and we continue to emphasize the need for students to maintain good etiquette, attendance and punctuality, and to adhere to the timely submission of assignments. We appreciate your collaboration and consideration.

Please note the following information for your diaries:

Cambridge Externally Moderated Examinations

External Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint Examinations for Year 6 and Year 9 will be held from 22nd - 25th April.

Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A-level Examinations will begin on 25th April and run through 13th June. Years 11 – 13 students have received their exam timetables.

Child Progress Conferences – Week of 18th March

Teachers will begin setting appointment times next week.

World Water Day, 22nd March

The international observance of World Water Day is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We shall acknowledge this day in school, and we encourage parents to explore and discuss this day’s importance at home to reinforce the focus placed on it in classes. This year’s theme is: Water For Peace.
