As we are in our last month of the school year, I would like to call your attention to the following events and information:
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) IGCSE and AS-level examinations will end on 10th June. CIE releases the results of these examinations in August. Year 6 and Year 9 students will be given their Statements of Achievement for Cambridge Checkpoint Tests in English, Mathematics and Science once the school receives them directly from CIE. The results of the internally monitored CIE Progression Tests for years 3 – 5 and 7 and 8 in English, Mathematics and Science will be discussed at Child Progress Conferences on 24th June.
International Day – Friday, 10th June (School will be held from 8:00 – 12:00)
We will celebrate our school’s cultures and traditions on this day as an internal event. Contributions of your country’s savoury or sweet dishes are greatly appreciated.
Capoeira “Batizado” – Saturday, 11th June, Chinese Cultural Centre, 16:00 – 18:30
There will be a Capoeira “Batizado” on Saturday, 11th June at the Chinese Cultural Centre, 16:00 – 18:30. This important event will celebrate the strong efforts of our young capoeiristes, some of whom will receive their first or second cords. The E.I.S. children will participate in this celebration with children from other schools who practise capoeira. All are welcome to come and enjoy this Afro-Brazilian event of dance, martial art, music and song.
Sports Day – Thursday, 16th June, on the school field, starting at 8:30
This year we link our Sports Day with the Stride for Truce Project, the aim of which is to mobilise youths globally for the Olympic ideals of building a more peaceful world. Children in their houses of Einstein, Newton and Mandela, will compete in fun races and games. More information will be forthcoming from class teachers.
Institut Français – Azé, l’Enfant Invisible, Saturday, 18th June at 10:30
E.I.S. children and others in Le Petit Club will proudly present their African tale, Azé, l’Enfant Invisible, in the Institut Français auditorium on the morning of Saturday, 18th June. This is an opportunity to enjoy the talent of our young children in theatre, music and French language. All are welcome.
Reports Out and Child Progress Conferences – 23rd and 24th June
Reports will be sent home with children on Thursday, 23rd June and parents will meet with teachers on Friday, 24th June. Teachers will arrange appointment times during the week prior to the conferences.
Last Day of Term / Prize Giving – Tuesday, 28th June, Institut Français Paillote
The 28th of June is the official last day of school. We end on this day with a farewell ceremony (from 9:00 – 10:30), during which we reflect on the academic year and award prizes. I would like to ask parents to kindly inform teachers in writing if they will need to travel before the final day.
The school calendar for Academic Year 2015 – 2016 is out and should be consulted when making travel plans. Please note that the next academic year will begin on Wednesday, 14th September 2016.
Reminder:Please remember that re-inscription is needed if you wish to guarantee a place for your child in the upcoming school year.
