English International School Newsletter of the 22nd January 2024

Dear Parents,

Wednesday, 24th January, will mark the sixth International Day of Education. The 2024 theme, proclaimed by UNESCO, is Learning For Lasting Peace. Classes at different levels will explore the relevance of the theme in today’s world.

Please note the following information and reminders:

International Day – Friday, 26th January

We will celebrate our school’s many cultures and traditions on this day as an internal event between classes, as was done last year. Teachers will organise the events to take place at certain points of the day as they pertain to their groups.

School Uniform and Sports Kit

Please remind your children to be prepared for school and sports lessons with the appropriate uniform and kit. Teachers are still seeing some students come to school inappropriately attired.

Cambridge External Examinations

Our Exams Officer, Mr. Armand Sossouhounto, will finalise registrations for all external examinations (including Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoints) by the end of next week. We ask that parents, upon receiving documents which include their child’s name, date of birth and subjects, promptly confirm that all information is correct and return the documents to school.

School Field

We are all saddened by the news regarding the school playing field. We have been blessed over a period of many years with a lovely green space on which we planted trees, raised fish in a pond, held several events and activities and played, played, played. We ‘keep hope alive’ for better days to come, whilst making adjustments which will enable our children to maintain their level of play and physical activity, and their ability to commune with nature.
